Walking the Escalator

Updated: Mar 30, 2023

As I approach the long tall escalator

I negotiate every step ahead

I see a crowd of tired commuters

Not opting to walk but to stand instead

Here is my chance to prove I am fit

To walk up those stairs toward the exit

I am trying to look ever so controlled

I am breathless, and I wish my breath I could hold

It is taking forever to get to the top

I am slowing the pace, but I will not stop

As I reach and turn the corner, my body starts to flop

Helpers surround me as I suddenly drop.
